Final Week

1) “Most Beautiful Work Award” - Which piece of writing (formal or informal) are you most proud of and why? What other skill or habit have you developed (maybe as a reader?) that you are proud of?
My favorite peice of work I did this semester was the Tragedy Project. Im very proud of that because I was able to find my own definition of what a true tragedy is. Over the semester I have become a better writer. I never knew I could write as much as I did this first semester.

2) “Lesson Learned” - What content do you feel you have mastered? Or, which skill(s) did you enjoy learning and feel that you have had some success in developing? How so?

The content that I really mastered was my project for my final. I have become a perfesional in the genre of science fiction. The skills I really enjoed learning was finding information on why people like science fiction. This was a major success becuase I really had a very good understaning of the topic and I passed my final.

3) “Lessons I’d Like to Learn” - Which skills would you like to develop before graduation? What content do you feel that you need to know in order to feel ready for college? Do you have any project ideas?
In your final blog post, I would like you to focus on this class. Please address the following questions so that I know how best to guide you and your classmates in your final semester:

I would still like to become a better writer. I think I could still use lots of practice. But I think I have grown this semester. I really think what I have learned this smemster in English will help me in college. I have grown so much this semester.

December 10, 2010

This weekend in English class we have been focusing the most on our final. Our final is on are three books that we read this semester and present what we learned from the readings. Meaning we now need to answer the essential question we came up with. Also this weekend, on Wednesday Jackie and I presented our grammar chart to teach the other students how to use a comma in the right place. That is what we did for this weekend in English class. Now I just need to practice on my presentation for readings.

December 3, 2010

This weekend we really focused on two things. For are first thing our teacher assigned a partner and I do take a Grammar poster. She wanted us to make this so we can teach students how to use the correct form of usage. For example Jackie and I decided to focus on knowing when to use commas for the right time. So fare her and I are making good progress on our Gramar Poster.

Also I have been working on my final for my English class. For the first part of my reading project I had to annotate my two first books. The two first books I read where Maximum Ride By James Patterson and The Invisible Man by H.G. Wells. We had to give a summary of what the book was about and write about what we liked and did not like about the book. Now I have to find 3 online sources that will aswers my esential question for my topic. I have not started yet but need to.

For my book of choice I have been reading Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. This is a very good sci-fi book. This book really engaged me really quickly. This is about a boy named Ender who is very brilliant. He is not liked by lots of people because he is different. The government wants him to become a star-fighter piliot and wants him to go to school to become one. He wants to but he has to leave his parents because the school is on a starship in outerspace. He is in school learning how to become a piliot. From reading this book this book really reminded me of the movie Star Trek because the theme of Star Trek really follow the same theme from my book. This is what I have been doing for this week. :D

November 19, 2010

This weekend we finished are understanding of tragedy. We finished are tragic creation. For my tragic creation I made a tragic poem where someone suffers in life and commits suicide. Here is my poem.

“Deepest Darkness of Despair”

Watching The World Fade Before My Eyes
People Living Happily While I Wither Into Despair
So Kill Me Now To Put Me Out Of Misery

Watching The World Fade Before My Eyes
No One Here On My Side In The End
So Kill Me Now To Put Me Out Of Misery

Watching The World Fade Before My Eyes
Hope Has Gone So Cold So Dry
So Kill Me Now To Put Me Out Of Misery

Watching The World Fade Before My Eyes
Hearing Voices In My Head Crying In Terror
So Kill Me Now To Put Me Out Of Misery

Watching The World Fade Before My Eyes
Take Me To The Other-side Where I Belong
So Kill Me Now To Put Me Out Of Misery

Views Of Heaven So Bliss And Beautiful
Heaven Is My Home
So Kill Me Now To Put Me Out of Misery

Also we worked on our inquiry project for are second book. The question I responded to in my essay is, why is science friction so fascinating. I had a hard time figuring out how to write this essay. I used examples from my book to support my question. That is what we did this week for English class. Also I have started my new book for my last project. I am staring the book Enders Game. It is a very good Science Fiction piece of literacy.

November 10, 2010

This weekend in English class I have been very busy and very productive. The main thing we focused on this week was working and finalizing are essay on tragedy. Working on my essay I had a hard time figuring out how to re-edit my work because I thought it sounded well to me. Later on I found more information that I could write about in my paper. By this Friday I'm suppose to have this essay done, send it in as a google doc, and turn it in into turnitin.com.

For my reading I'm reading the book the Invisible Man by H.G. Wells. This book is about this psychotic man who comes into a town and does criminal activity. He try's to hurt people and kill them because he is a psycho freak. No one can see him because he is an invisible person. His cloths help him be invisible. Towards the end of the book his body get reviled to the public because someone try's to kill him. His cloths come off and his body is partially exposed. At the end of the book he dies.

This is what I have done for my English class this week.

Fade The Monk 3000 (LOL)

This weekend in English class we were so busy. The biggest thing we worked in her class was on our draft about tragedy. We had to analyze different peoples view of tragedy and had to wright about how we agree and disagree on their perspective views of tragedy. Some of the reading I agreed on and some I did not agree at all. The definition of tragedy is depression and despair. Thats what I think of what a perfect and a true tragedy is. The loss of something that you can't get back is a true tragedy.

My book I'm reading "The Insivibable Man" by H.G. Wells is a very good book. The book is about a brilliant scientist uncovers the secret to invisibility, but his grandiose dreams and the power he unleashes cause him to spiral into intrigue, madness, and murder. This book a science fiction and suspense. Overall this is a good book. :D

October 29, 2010

This weekend we covered articles about tragedy from different peoples point of view. We discussed each reading and reflected on them on a google doc. On the google doc's we had to Retell, Respond, and Relate to the stories. This was an interesting weekend. :D

October 22, 2010

This week in English class we covered the genre of tragedy. As a class we look at one Greek story called "Odepus The King". This story is about Odepus the king who falls in the end and finds his true identity. The story starts out with the city of Thebes with a disease and a priest believes that Odepus can fix this problem because he is the king. That is one view of tragedy. Later on the story Odepus real father comes to him to let him know the truth of his identity. Odepus falls when he finds this information because he is not really a king because he was adopted by a servant of Lacius. When Jocasta finds out this new she kills herself and Odepus stabs his eyes out. Later on Odepus is sad and not happy when he finds this news and he decides to leave to an unknown place to die. I think this story is some what tragic but not exactly. This story is not exactly tragic because I knew that he was going to fall.

Also in class we are going to do a project on how we view tragedy by theater, drama, acting, art, and music. I believe that art and music is the best way to show tragic moments because you get a visual of a sad picture and a song that is slow and also that is played in a minor key. I am very excited to see what other students interpret tragedy. :D

October 15, 2010

This week in English class we learned about tragic stories. One story we read was "Oedipus The King". This story is about a man named Oedipus a stranger of Thebes who became a king of the city. He became the king because the previous king Laius was murdered. The story starts  out with the city of Thebes infected by the plague (YUK!). He was put to the throne because he knew how to save the city of Thebes. That is the main point of the story. There is more I could talk about but I think this is enough.

For my book of choice I finished reading my book "The Final Warning" by James Patterson. THAT WAS A GOOD BOOK! This book made me be on the edge of my seat and so stressed about. The ending was so epic. Where I left off was where the mutant teenage kids where in Antarctica studying Global Warming patterns around the word. While they were on their mission a guy named Gozen who is a spy for a special team is trying to capture them. The mutant kids don't know they are being watched by a special force team. While they were out on their mission they got caught in a bad snow storm where they had to wait and out. Basically they had to survive out in the harsh cold. When the storm was over they where caught by Gozens men and brought to Miami, Florida to be auctioned off to the public. On the day of the auction there was a hurricane warning. Though out the auction the hurricane hit the building letting the mutant kids having a chance to escape. While that happened Gozen was killed by the full force of mother nature.

This book "The Final Warning" that I finished was so good. If you like science fiction, adventure, and suspense this is the book for you. I hope to get the next book of the Maximum Ride series and start reading it so i can see what happens. Thats about it what I want to blog about. :D

First Blog Post For English October 8, 2010

Here is my first blog for my English class. For this week in English we read two stories about Socrates. The first one was about where he was taken into trial. He was taken to trial because he was disturbing the young youth of the Athenians. Also he did not believe in the gods which made people not happy. The second reading of Socrates is about where his friend Crito comes to save him from his death. Socrates does not want to escape because he say's he's breaking the law and he thinks there is a reason why he is put to death. He does not escape witch leads to his death.

For my book of choice that I'm suppose to read is "The Final Warning" by James Patterson. The genre of the book is adventure and sci-fi. The book is about 4 mutant teen age kids who are part bird and human. They are always on the run from scientists, military, secret agencies, and the paparazzi. They are on the run because they do not want to be taken in and experimented on. The story is about where the mutant kids are put on a mission to study Global Warming in Antarctica. Paleontologists hire to help them to study climate change. Through out the story they get betrayed from them because the Paleontologists are part of a secret agency. That is where I am in my reading. Hope to read more to find out what happens. I really recommend this book to people who love to seek adventure, suspense,  and sci-fi.
